Dr Esteban Gurzov has been appointed an honorary Associated Professor (Principal Fellow) by the University of Melbourne, Australia

The recent appointment of Dr Gurzov will strengthen the collaborations between the STML and the University of Melbourne and the development of a shared PhD program is under development. Dr Gurzov already established research projects to co-supervise PhD students between Melbourne and Brussels.

Dr Gurzov is a leader the field of metabolism and diabetes research. His research has laid significant groundwork for understanding the development of a number of metabolic diseases with unmet needs, including type 1 diabetes, obesity and hepatocellular carcinoma. Dr Gurzov’s research has to date resulted in numerous grants (ERC Consolidator), peer reviewed articles and a clinical trial.

The University of Melbourne is a leading Australian research university, placed in the top 50 position in the World University Rankings.
